Wildflower Plant Sale & Guided Walks Saturday, May 17 9:00 - 12:00pm Natives, Wildflowers, and Plants to attract Butterflies & Hummingbirds Walks and informal planting technique workshops will be held throughout the morning. Proceeds from sale support our gardens and grounds.
Plant Donations Welcome - Please Label! Please bring your labeled and potted plants to the Science Center before Friday, May 16th and remember to leave your name and address when dropping off donations.
Our spring tradition continues! Come early for the best selection! Sale of choice and some hard-to-find native and indigenous plants as well as well-known old favorites from New England Nurseries and local gardens.
Friendly, knowledgeable gardeners will be on hand to assist you and answer questions. Did you know, planting native species is beneficial to local wildlife who depend upon such plants for food? Get your children excited about butterfly and hummingbird gardens, and take home ideas for your own gardens.
Wildflower Garden Walks with Winnie Lou Rounds and Val Shute at 9:30am and 10:30am. As you wander amongst the wildflowers at the Science Center, learn about the varieties of wildflowers that will grow in your garden, too.
Trail Walk with Barbara Devine at 11:00am. The woods and edges of the fields around the Science Center are full of wildflowers by mid-May. Walk the trails with Barbara and scout out colonies of Pink Ladyslippers, sweeps of Wild Lily of the Valley and others. We will tabulate all of them for the State's Biodiversity List. Dress for the weather. |
