Your
Donations are Always Welcome
We greatly appreciate the
generous donations of our members, sponsors, partners, and caring people like
you. Your money will help us care for our animals, continue our
education programs, and support our mission of stewardship and environmental
awareness. No donation is too small or too large. To become a member or make a donation, please fill out our
donation form and send it to the Science
Center or call us at 781-659-2559. Thank You!
The Science Center is wholly dependent upon
the generosity of its members and friends.
All gifts are tax deductible within the limits of the law. Inquiries
concerning gifts of securities, bequests, and matching employer gifts are
invited.

Volunteers Needed
The Science Center relies on its
volunteers for not only special events, but for our everyday tasks.
Do you have a few hours to give each week to volunteer for the Front
Reception desk, fundraising, administrative tasks, museum docent, or groundskeeping? Don't
have the time to commit every week? Then why not volunteer at one
of our special events like Corn Festival, Maple Day, Earthday, or
any of our fundraisers. Please contact Persis Sterling, Volunteer
Coordinator, for more information.
Wanted: Front Desk Scholars
Do you have some time available and
like to meet the public? We currently have openings
available at the Front Desk. Volunteers receive free membership to the Science Center
after 40 hours of service per year. The Front Desk position is varied
and provides a wonderful way to learn more about the Center and its exhibits.
Even if you can only volunteer a few hours a month, we'd love to have you join
our corps of Front Desk Scholars. If interested, please contact Persis at 781-659-2559.

Recycle your used ink/toner cartridges here and support our education programs.
The SSNSC
has teamed with the Staples Recycle for Education program to keep empty ink
cartridges out of landfills. An estimated 400,000 cartridges are discarded
each year - that's enough to circle the earth. By dropping off your used
cartridges at the Science Center, you'll help keep those cartridges out of
landfills where it would take over 1,000 years for them to decompose.
We'll ship them to a recycling center and Staples will pay $3.00 for each
eligible cartridge redeemed. There's no cost to you or us and we earn $$
for education programs.
Recycle your paper at the Science Center and help us earn
money
The SSNSC is participating in the Abitibi Paper
Retriever® Program. We are collecting
newspaper, copy paper, catalogs, magazines, mail, and envelopes in the
yellow and green Abitibi bin in our visitor parking lot. We'll earn money for every pound
collected.

Use
GoodSearch and GoodShop and support the Science Center
GoodSearch.com is a
Yahoo-powered search engine that donates half its advertising revenue, about
a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. Use it just as you
would any search engine, get quality search results from Yahoo, and watch
the donations add up! Just go to
www.goodsearch.com and be sure to enter South Shore
Natural Science Center as the charity you want to support.
While you're
there, check out GoodShop.com, an online shopping mall. Choose the
South Shore Natural Science Center as the charity you support and then
click on the partner retailers
(including Amazon, Target, Best Buy, Barnes and Noble, Gap,
Expedia, and
many more). You'll be instantly connected to that retailer's website and start shopping! A percentage of your purchase will go
to the Science Center.
And, be sure to spread the word!
Corporate
underwriters are wonderful…
for special events and newsletter support!
Demonstrate your commitment to the Science Center and help environmental
education. Help underwrite special
fundraising events like the Garden Tour, Spring Stirrings, or Corn Festival, or
support our newsletter, published five times a year.
We will prominently display your company name and logo in all Science
Center releases and publications. Our
newsletter is sent to over 1200 homes and businesses through the South Shore.
Call Executive Director Martha Twigg at (781) 659-2559 x204.
Local Businesses Support the Center
Many area corporations and local businesses support the SSNSC in a variety of
ways. The following are examples of the different opportunities we have for support.
Cash donations -- We wouldn't be here without them.
Matching gifts -- See if your company will match employee
donations.
Sponsorship of special events -- Businesses receive public
recognition for underwriting all or a portion of the cost of our special events.
Equipment and supplies -- Companies help the Center keep costs
down by providing us with donations of their products. Alvin Hollis
& Co. in Weymouth, Anderson
Fuel in North Scituate, and
South Shore Oil in Kingston are keeping us and our
animals warm
with their donations of heating fuel. Thank you to
Stop and Shop, Norwell for their donation of lettuce for our animals.
Professional Services -- donations of professional services save
the Center hundreds of dollars. Thank you to Chris Boyd
and Internet Creations for hosting our website and their IT services. |

The Science Center could not operate without the generous contributions of so many people
for items large and small |
