Saturday, March 13, 2009 • 1:00 – 2:30pm
$12 M per parent/child pair

$17 NM per parent/child pair

($5 for each additional child)

Fairies are out in all kinds of weather. Come in costume and make little snow fairies to take home. We’ll have snow cakes and juice, and learn about the woods where fairies live. Sign up early, we fill fast! Pre-registration and payment required.

Vernal Pools: Exploring Giant Puddles!
Saturday, March 27, 10:00-11:30AM
$5 members/$7 non-members per person
Pre-registration and payment requested to ensure proper staffing.
Appropriate for ages 5 and up

Puddles come and puddles go, and so do vernal pools! These mysterious, temporary bodies of water are home to many different animals, if only for a short time. Spotted salamanders, wood frogs, and fairy shrimp use these pools to lay their eggs; and turtles visit to find food. Join us for crafts and hands-on activities with microscopes and hand lens inside; and then venture outside to explore these unique and magical wetlands.

The whole family will enjoy this adventure, but dress for the weather – the salamanders don’t care if it’s raining and neither do we!
