"FOOD MATTERS"

January 19th 2012 at 7pm

Food Matters – but is it the answer to Cancer?

A new documentary claims we can improve chronic illness with simple self-care and aims to further jolt the trillion dollar worldwide so-called ‘sickness industry’ by declaring a range of scientifically verifiable solutions for curing disease naturally.  Nutritionists turned filmmakers James Colquhoun and Laurentine ten Bosch, have produced a bold film based on a challenging and potentially startling message; that with the right kind of foods, supplements, and detoxification processes, we can prevent, arrest, and even reverse chronic illness.

“There are simple lifestyle changes that we as individuals can make to start reversing the increasing levels of serious illness,” said Bosch.

"Fresh"

February 16, 2012 at 7pm

FRESH celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are re-inventing our food system.  Each has witnessed the rapid transformation of our agriculture into an industrial model, and confronted the consequences: food contamination, environmental pollution, depletion of natural resources, and morbid obesity.  Forging healthier, sustainable alternatives, they offer a practical vision for a future of our food and our planet.

“Where FRESH departs from Food Inc., The Omnivore’s Dilemma, and most other food documentaries of late, is that FRESH is downright hopeful.”  – FairFoodFight.com

"The True Cost of Food"

March 15, 2012 at 7pm

The True Cost of Food brought to us by the Sierra Club’s National Sustainable Consumption Committee addresses the importance of eating locally to think globally.  “Most of the world's problems can't be fixed by individual action: disease, war, and poverty require concentrated efforts by policy makers and governments. But ONLY consumers can affect the way food is grown and transported; this is an area where our actions make a difference. If we buy food that's grown sustainably supply will follow demand and it will become more available. When it becomes obvious that small farmers can make a decent living, more young people will be able to start farming.” - The Sierra Club National Sustainable Consumption Committee
